Apricot, Greenery & Gold – Color Theory

Inspired by warm colors like apricot and gold and the cacti of California, the Flowers By Semia team hosted a baby shower for one of their own.

Succulents and cacti filled shimmery gold and sleek white vessels, while aloe plants laid loosely on the table creating a raw landscape. Warm climate fruits such as papayas and star fruits added a vibrant pop of color, complimenting the poppies and ranunculus. Many of the floral arrangements were clean and simple featuring one outstanding bloom. ”We basically wanted to take all of the mom-to-be’s favorite things and put them on one table. The poppies were perfection — tissue paper ruffles for days!” Semia exclaimed. Cocktail napkins in gold geometric prints paired perfectly with the gold flatware and textured metal chargers provided by Peterson Party Center. The tables was centered under a large geometric installation like an adult mobile, adding a touch of whimsy to the day.

Summer Greenery – A Stone House Wedding

A neutral color palette of summer greenery combined with majestic ocean views set the tone for this simply elegant summer wedding at The Stone House in Little Compton, RI.

Growing up summering in Little Compton, Jessie from a young age always hoped to get married there. With 14 luxurious suites and sweeping coastal views, The Stone House was an easy choice for the couple as they had many guests coming in from out of town. Kristina Ebbitt of Exquisite Events brought Jessie’s vision for a simple yet elegant wedding to life by sourcing all the right talent. Lush summer greens popped against a neutral palette of grey and ivory in the Sperry Tent just outside The Stone House, where the reception would be held. A canopy of twinkling lights added just the right amount of sparkle to the overall design. The scene was set and everything had looked just the way the couple imagined it would. “We really loved our photographers, M. Studios. They were so fun and spunky; definitely went above and beyond to capture the right shot. We thought our pictures turned out beautifully,” Jessie raved.

Photography Spotlight On: M. Studios

This week’s Photography Spotlight is on M. Studios! Stay tuned for Wednesday’s blog post featuring this dynamic duo’s fabulous work.

1. How did M. Studios come to be?

Marisa and I have been friends for almost 20 years.  One thing that we’ve always had in common is a love of photography.  We were both doing photography professionally but separately.  I was working for Snap! Photography as a lead photographer.  Marisa was shooting portraits and doing freelance work for companies like Alex and Ani.  We started hiring each other to assist on jobs we had when we finally had that “aha” moment!  We saw the opportunity of not only doing what we love but being able to do it with your best friend.  Could it get anymore perfect than that?!  So, in 2011 M.Studios was born and it has been the greatest thing for both of us.

2. What types of photography services do you offer?

While we mostly focus on weddings we also do portraits, head shots, and event photography.  We also have a super swanky photo booth that is always the life of the party!

3. Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel?

M.Studios has an office at Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket.  We will travel anywhere and everywhere!  We have shot weddings in New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Maine, New Hampshire, The Adirondacks, The Berkshires as well as many other places in New England.  We even travelled to Philadelphia for an engagement session.  We love to travel so destination weddings are our favorite!

4. How far in advance should you book?

As soon as you have your venue booked the next step should be photos.  We book fast!

5. What is the best advice you can give to anyone being photographed?

Trust your photographer!  You hired them because you saw something in their work that spoke to you.  If you trust in their vision it allows your photographer to work their magic.  Also don’t be afraid to ham it up!  Laugh a little too much, flip your hair, be overly romantic, and just have fun with it!
