Lavender, Aubergine, and Green – Color Theory

Purples ranging in intensity from the softest lavender to vivid ultra violet to deep aubergine infuse a modern ballroom with life & color.

The relaxing scent of fresh lavender mingled with lilac and eucalyptus filled the air. Kim Lamothe of Greenlion Design created bountiful arrangements that were both structured and loose as if they were growing wild in a spring garden. At the bottom of the grand staircase a lively arrangement of lavender, eucalyptus, and sweet peas wrapped around the banister as if it just bloomed there naturally. The mantle of the capiz shell fireplace held a similar arrangement creating a breathtaking backdrop for the head table. Smaller arrangements mixed with crisp white tapers encased in crystal vases lined the long tables while each round table featured a floral sculpture perched upon a brushed nickel stand. “This wedding was full of life. Maybe it was the aromatherapy of all the flowers that kept us lively, but there were so many pretty things to photograph, we never got tired of snapping!” Mariah of Snap! Weddings recalled.

East-Meets-West Love Story

From the east to the west, two diverse cultures unite under a canopy of hanging flora surrounded by friends and family to watch their love story come to life.

An American and Hong Kong flag waved guests into a majestic tent overlooking Newport Harbor where the reception was held. The location paid homage to Jim’s upbringing in Newport, RI while Katherine’s Chinese heritage was represented through a dim-sum cocktail hour and a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony. “Our wedding planner, Exquisite Events made everything come together beautifully & seamlessly,” Katherine recalled.

1. Katherine, an established eveningwear designer made all of the gowns including her own.

2. The Chinese symbol for double joy was embroidered on each napkin and served as a place card holder as well.

3. The dashing duo sharing their first slice of cake.

4. Little flower fairy covers the aisle with petals.

5. Luxe lounge offers a place to relax between dances.

6. A blend of roses, snapdragons, snowberries, and peonies in pedestal bowels lined the tables.

7. Standing upon a carpet of petals under a canopy of snowberry, roses, and hanging strands of dendrobian orchids they said “I do.”

8. Katherine’s bouquet, along with the entire floral design by Sayles Livingston Design featured soft, romantic blooms.

9. The night concluded with a sparkling tunnel leading them off to their honeymoon.

yours truly, Gingham — A Styled Shoot

A styled shoot unbounded by tradition and inspiring brides to create a wedding that is uniquely theirs.

When Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore first set eyes on the black and white gingham silk taffeta gown designed by Carolina Herrera as it graced the runway during bridal market she couldn’t wait create an entire wedding look centered on that one bold print. “When we began discussing the editorial shoot at the Copper Beach Inn, the premise was personalization and making your wedding your own – what better way to show this than with a bold black and white gown?!” Beth exclaimed. The classic checker print, which was carried out through the stationery too, was artfully juxtaposed with other geometric prints and bright floral arrangements, infusing color into the black and white palette. The attire provided the perfect backdrop for the textural bouquets of deep pink, magenta, and marigold blooms. Each daringly bold design element, including three adorably fluffy kittens, pieced together flawlessly and cohesively to create a look that was sophisticated and embodied a touch southern glamour.

“I wanted to play up the whimsy of pattern, so I dressed the flower girl in a striped dress and incorporated a pin dot into the pocket square of the groom’s attire” – Beth Chapman
