A Touch of Whimsy – The Details

A Touch of Whimsy – A Styled Shoot. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post highlighting the savory comfort food and tantalizing sweets!

A sense of relaxed elegance was achieved through a cheerful autumn color palette, rich textures, and six whimsical little flower girls.

Six charming little fairies danced around a breathtaking display of floral perfection. The farm table from Exquisite Events featured a custom-made trellis that was ideal for Sayles of Sayles Livingston Design’s vision for the shoot. “Hanging ceiling flowers are really trending right now, the execution of which we are becoming known for. I wanted to show how that concept can be achieved on a smaller scale,” she described. Heavy greenery intertwined with coral, fuchsia, and burnt orange blooms hung delicately alongside mini lanterns. Candlelight illuminated each lantern, emitting an amber glow amongst the flora. Gold painted succulents and mercury glass vessels were scattered throughout the table adding a touch of glitz to the colorful design. Nearby, a Chase Canopy tent was transformed into a luxe lounge with draping in rich autumn hues, an oriental rug, and a plush leather couch and ottoman. A few feet over, hanging from a large tree, an eclectic chandelier shed light on the scrumptious dessert table completing the overall design.

Vendor Spotlight is On: Paper & Pearl

Vendor Spotlight is on Paper & Pearl; a full-service stationery design firm specializing in beautiful luxury of all things paper.

1. How did your business come to be?

I launched Paper & Pearl in 2014 after a long career in sales and through my passion for beautiful paper and design.  I always dreamed of owning a stationery store, but with a growing trend towards on-line shopping, I decided that an e-commerce business was the way to go.

2. What are the services you offer?

For my bridal clients, I offer a personal consultation to learn about all the lovely details of the wedding and how I could help turn their vision into the perfect wedding invitation suite.  I also offer “Day Of” wedding items like programs, menus, escort cards, specialty drink signs — basically anything that needs to be on paper!  I also carry a full line of beautiful stationery on the Paper & Pearl website by some of the best names in stationery.

3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?

I operate Paper & Pearl from my home studio in Bristol.  Because of the nature of my business, consultations are best done in my home studio where my clients and I meet and go through the many samples and albums that I carry to come up with the perfect invitation suite.  I have also worked with long-distance couples via Skype or emails.

4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?

To alleviate the stress, I recommend that consultation be booked 6 to 9 months in advance of the wedding. This will give us plenty of time to select the design elements and go through the proofing process for any edits.  Some designers I work with have long lead times for printing, which needs to be considered.

5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?

My best advice to couples is that they should look at their invitation suite as a way of setting the tone for their wedding day.  Invitations are the first glimpses guests will receive of the couples style and theme for the day and lets them know they are special people to the couple.

My best tip for couples when ordering invitations is to have the invitation envelopes pre-printed with the guest’s names and addresses!  This is a wonderful, time saver and an inexpensive add-on.

Vendor Spotlight On: The Pink Polka Dot

Vendor Spotlight is on: The Pink Polka Dot; more than an event design firm, the flagship wedding boutique in Cape Cod features unique cards, customized stationery, and gifts.

1. How did your business come to be?

In 2009 The Pink Polka Dot launched as a wedding and event planning company, but quickly evolved into more. After realizing not all clients want to go online to purchase their wedding and event accessories, Jen opened a store in Falmouth to fill the void.

In May of 2011, the store expanded into a much larger space.  The current space includes a wedding and event boutique area, as well as a large retail area with unique cards, stationery, gift wrap, and gifts. Our Wedding and Event Boutique also features personalized stationery and custom invitations. In addition to albums from Crane, William Arthur, Carlson Craft, Lilly Pulitzer, and Envelopments, we also offer custom designs and in house printing. Consider us your one stop shop for all of life’s important events. Whether you are planning a wedding or birthday party, or trying to find that perfect gift for someone, we can certainly help.

The Pink Polka Dot has been named the Best Wedding Planner on Cape Cod by The Knot for four years (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and was inducted into the Hall of Fame! Additionally, you can find featured weddings and stationery in many local magazines, including Well Wed, Bliss Celebrations, and Southern New England Weddings.

Jen’s philosophy is that the small details are what will truly set you and your event apart from the rest. Everything we do at The Pink Polka Dot reflects this belief, including our unique products, which are designed to add that extra touch!

2. What are the services you offer?

We offer Boutique Partial and Full Wedding Planning.  We take on only a limited number of weddings each year, so dates tend to book at least a year in advance.  We also create custom stationery and invitations! We suggest beginning the invitation design process at least 6 months prior to your wedding.  This allows ample time for proofs, revisions, and printing.

3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?

We are located on Cape Cod (in Falmouth, MA).  We provide planning services for Cape Cod weddings, but have traveled to Boston and Newport.

4. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?

Something will go wrong on your wedding day! It’s inevitable when you have so many people and moving parts.  Hiring the best team of vendors and a great planner will ensure you don’t even know what issues may arise.  Our job is to troubleshoot and fix anything before it becomes a problem and so you or guests don’t even know about it!
