After The Hunt

Flora and fauna are contrasted with a curated collection of nineteenth and twentieth century art for this After the Hunt feast at the Harvard Art Museums.

The surrounding architecture and early twentieth century art collection at the Harvard Art Museums inspired floral designer Marc Hall of Marc Hall Design and Nilda Martin of Reserve Modern Event Rentals to create a sumptuous after the hunt rehearsal dinner. “The evening was curated with appointments that blurred the distinction between modern and old world, Marc explained. “Modern furniture and couture design elements juxtaposed a Renaissance inspired display of food, flora and fauna.” Setting the tone for the night was an exceptional invitation suite designed by Tribe Design + Events. Custom made metallic marbled paper was encased in an envelope hand-sewn with metallic thread and sealed with vintage stamps describing what could be expected of the feast. Textures were prominent throughout the overall design from décor to fashion. Tables were covered with luxurious linens ranging from quilted silk in game prints to crushed velvet in rich reds from Table Toppers, while a fur stole and a feather bow tie accessorized the bride and groom. The grazing table was decorated with an elaborate display of food and floral sculptures. A mouth-watering roast was surrounded by colorful root vegetables and decadent cakes prepared by The Catered Affair. An artisan copper bar with an antler mirrored backdrop from Reserve Modern Event Rentals introduced metallic elements to the décor. Adjacent to the bar, an event lounge was comprised of lacquered knotted tree stumps that served as cocktail tables, a gilded crown chair, and contrasting animal hide rugs. A menagerie of curiosities such as skulls, horns, and feathers completed the design. “Our belief is that a great party starts by creating a thoughtful and beautifully styled environment that is not only visually stunning, but functional and exciting for guests. We accentuated an already gorgeous space by adding areas that became event jewelry and focal “wows” transforming the familiar environment,” explained Nilda Martin of Reserve Modern Event Rentals.

Old World Charm

Old world architecture combined with rich flora creates the perfect backdrop to an unforgettable intimate event at the Redwood Library & Anthenaeum.

For the couple that appreciates grand architecture, literature, and old world charm, a wedding at the Redwood Library & Athenaeum in Newport, RI is a dream come true. Filled with old portraits and marble busts, this venue is rich with history and culture. Francesca Campo of Campo & Company Events was the visionary and planner of this styled shoot. Utilizing many items from her personal collection of art as well as old leather bound books, she created little vignettes at each place setting that spoke to the aesthetic of the library. “I liked that each guest got an elegant little cake for dessert with their very own gemstone and organic garnish. Each guest’s place card had their name and the name of their gemstone and its properties,” described Francesca. To add enchantment to the day, unique floral elements such as berries and branches were abundant among the arrangements designed by Greenlion Weddings, Floral & Event Design.

Storybook Romance

Surrounded by the rich architecture and love stories of the Boston Public Library, Kelly and Andrew started a new chapter in their own storybook.

The Boston Public Library was the only choice for Kelly and Andrew. In fact, they chose their date based on the availability of the venue. They loved the architecture and the amazing cuisine of the in-house caterer, The Catered Affair, but most of all, they loved that it’s a public place and one day they can show their children exactly where they were married. Kelly loves all things pink and glitzy, but she wanted the wedding to be classic and elegant. Her event planner, Nicole of Simeral & Co, helped her find the appropriate team of event professionals to make her dream a reality. Ivory metallic linens covered each table in the Reading Room. Each head table held an oversized floral runner in blush and fuchsia hues while the other tables featured tall glass vases bursting with branches and flowers in vibrant pink and purple tones. Purple and gold lighting danced across the dome ceiling while guests feasted on an amazing dinner prepared by The Catered Affair.

Baby Love

The industrial space inside the Flowers By Semia Studio was transformed into an autumnal oasis for this twist on a traditional baby shower.

Farmer florist Semia Dune of Flowers By Semia hosted a baby shower for her friend and fellow florist, Michelle. Foraging local greenery such as bittersweet, porcelain vine, and autumn clematis vine, the team decorated the exposed brick walls and floor-to-ceiling windows. Warm candlelight and plush throw pillows in dusty purple and cream softened the space and created a comfy lounge area for the expectant mother to relax with friends and family. “While the event was technically a baby shower, we really chose to make it more about Michelle. Our aim was to provide her with a wonderful evening surrounded by only her closest friends and family, her favorite foods, and the most gorgeous surroundings we could make with our own two hands,” Semia explained. The farm table was set with a textural mix of copper and ceramic tableware from Peterson Party Center. Autumn sweets like cinnamon sugar donuts and caramel apples surrounded a three-tier naked cake by Sweet Indulgence making for a perfect ending to a perfect night.
