Pure Opulence — The Fashion

Part three of our Pure Opulence photo shoot blog post highlights the elegant bridal fashion styled by the talented Beth Chapman of Beth Chapman Styling and owner of The White Dress By The Shore.

The Vision

Rich greenery, chiffon draping, and opulent chandeliers create the perfect ambiance for a black tie affair at Blithewold Mansion and Arboretum.

The Fashion

As regal as the venue itself, the bride donned a champagne striped Carolina Herrera ball gown. For the reception the bride changed into a vintage inspired caged veil by Bijou Van Ness paired with an embroidered overcoat with an ostrich feather skirt by JLM Couture. Beth Chapman of The White Dress By The Shore styled the rest of the bridal party in black gowns varying in lace, tulle, and sequins completing the overall look of the night.

“The Blithewold Mansion has a stately feel to it which called for a classic and elegant gown. I selected the Ansel gown from Carolina Herrera Bride, as the silk striped skirt provided a New England vibe and the beaded neckline made it perfect for a black tie affair,” Beth Chapman described.

Vendor Spotlight On: The White Dress By The Shore

This week’s Vendor Spotlight is on The White Dress By The Shore; a bridal boutique offering exceptional service and known for creating a truly unique experience.

1. How did your business come to be?

I opened the boutique out of a sincere desire to provide brides with an exceptional shopping experience.  The designers that I select are unique and generally classic.  They are all of one hand and taste level, as if they were all designed with one bride in mind.  Our target bride wants to be timeless, classic and unforgettable.  She is looking for a classic bride with a fashion twist.

2. What are the services you offer?

We offer chic couture for brides, mothers, and maids and alterations services for brides who purchase their gowns through us all in the quaint atmosphere of an antique home.

We also offer private shopping experiences:

White Carpet Appointment- This is a 3 hour appointment that takes place when he boutique is typically closed, so the bride and her guests have the space to themselves.  We offer champagne and  sweet or savory treats while the party shops and a photographer is on hand to capture every memory.

Bridesmaid Soiree- This 2 hours private appointment takes place in our bridesmaid atelier.  The Bride and her maid enjoy mimosas and cupcakes while they work with a stylist to put together the perfect collection of colors and silhouettes to compliment the bride’s gown.

Through our sister company, Beth Chapman Styling, we also offer day of wedding dressing service.

3. Where are you located?

104 East Main St. | Clinton, CT 06413

4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?

We recommend booking an appointment 2 weeks in advance.

5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?

Select a gown that is reflective of your own personal style.  Also, when shopping for your gown try to limit your guests to 1-2 people who understand your personal style and the aesthetic of your wedding.  Too many opinions can be detrimental to the decision making process and can ruin your experience.

Wooden Wonders by the River

Reclaimed wooden design elements are softened with lush summer greens, creamy white bouquets with pops of periwinkle, and a furry companion.

The vision was an intimate wedding along the Marstons Mills river edge, inspired by a Dory rowboat that was handcrafted by a local Cape Cod craftsman. “I am fortunate every day to walk out my back door and be inspired by the moving Marstons Mills river, lush trees, grapevine, and other natural flora indigenous to Cape Cod. The stone walls and antique buildings inspire me to follow my love for everything natural, vintage, and rustic,” Karen Taddei of Lilacs Florals described. A garland of textural garden flowers lined the rustic picnic table from Be Our Guest. French round back chairs and ivory place settings added a touch of modern refinement to the table design. Over in the lounge area, a weathered door was placed upon a wrought iron base to serve as the table where sugary confections fromArtisan Bake Shop could be enjoyed. Donning ethereal gowns from A Little Something White, the bridal party cozied up with Ted the Golden Retriever on an antique sofa and watched the sunset.
