A Touch of Whimsy – The Details

A Touch of Whimsy – A Styled Shoot. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post highlighting the savory comfort food and tantalizing sweets!

A sense of relaxed elegance was achieved through a cheerful autumn color palette, rich textures, and six whimsical little flower girls.

Six charming little fairies danced around a breathtaking display of floral perfection. The farm table from Exquisite Events featured a custom-made trellis that was ideal for Sayles of Sayles Livingston Design’s vision for the shoot. “Hanging ceiling flowers are really trending right now, the execution of which we are becoming known for. I wanted to show how that concept can be achieved on a smaller scale,” she described. Heavy greenery intertwined with coral, fuchsia, and burnt orange blooms hung delicately alongside mini lanterns. Candlelight illuminated each lantern, emitting an amber glow amongst the flora. Gold painted succulents and mercury glass vessels were scattered throughout the table adding a touch of glitz to the colorful design. Nearby, a Chase Canopy tent was transformed into a luxe lounge with draping in rich autumn hues, an oriental rug, and a plush leather couch and ottoman. A few feet over, hanging from a large tree, an eclectic chandelier shed light on the scrumptious dessert table completing the overall design.

Vivid Fuchsia and Forest Green – Color Theory

Rich green paired with vivid fuchsia and purple come together to create an enchanted forest for this special Quinceañera.

For Jasmine’s special day she wanted a mystical enchanted forest that truly evoked her personality. She called on the talents of event designer Edna Dratch-Parker of EFD Creative –Event Planning & Design to bring her vision to life. “When creating the enchanted forest vision one could conjure up multiple looks, but because this was for a young lady we wanted the design to be clean and defined, but also create a magical and vibrant feeling,” Edna explained. Box hedges lined the tent making you feel as though you were wandering through a forest. Large silver urns were bursting with bright flora and earthy branches on each table. Mini spotlights peeked through patches of moss to illuminate every urn adding to the magical feeling. The table number cards on each table were branded with Jasmine’s first initial and explained the significance of the Quinceañera celebration. The theme was carried out flawlessly even down to the cake.

Vendor Spotlight On: EFD Creative-Event Planning & Design

The Wedding Brander™ herself, Edna Dratch-Parker of EFD Creative-Event Planning & Design chats with us about how her design brand came to be!

1. How did your business come to be?

My background is in art. I graduated from Maine College of Art, so thinking about design is really part of who I am and how I approach everything. I saw there was an opportunity to help couples take a more design-driven approach to their weddings, to bring their own personality into one of life’s most important occasions. From my point of view, design and planning should be fused together from very start.

There is no shortage of interest in people wanting to express their own style – look at all the
reality TV shows focused on design! Even though the internet has made it easy to pin favorites
and share the best design ideas in the world, understanding what these options might mean for your wedding, and how to create your own vision by successfully incorporating the best design elements can be overwhelming. I wanted to help with this process and parlay my experiences as professional designer, marketer, and event planner to help couples create a more personalized wedding experience – what I call wedding branding. This approach is how The Wedding Brander ™ came to life.

2. What are the services you offer?

With decades of experience we bring from the design world – from fashion to advertising to event planning –  EFD Creative has a unique perspective in the wedding industry. We create personalized, designed weddings and influence a whole new category of wedding branding.

3. Where are you located and how far are you willing to travel to provide your services?

EFD Creative is located in the South End of Boston serving all of New England and beyond!

4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?

6 months to a year is ideal, but we can accommodate a shorter timeline if necessary.

5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?

It can be easy to get overwhelmed – getting married is such an emotional and exciting time – but it’s also important to keep it all in perspective. I always tell my couples – remember, it’s about the love! It’s about celebration! And no matter what, we always can find a solution to the problem.
