Vendor Spotlight On: Fairmont Copley Plaza

Vendor Spotlight is on Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston; a luxury landmark hotel in downtown Boston symbolizing history and elegance.

How did your business come to be?

Fairmont Copley Plaza formally opened its doors on August 19th, 1912. The hotel was built on the original site of the Museum of Fine Arts and named in honor of John Singleton Copley, the great American Painter. Ever since its grand opening reception Fairmont Copley Plaza has been known for being the most celebrated address in Back Bay.  From the elegant intimacy of the Venetian Room to the palatial splendor of the Grand Ballroom, with its exquisite details, sparkling crystal chandeliers, and gilded, thirty-foot ceilings, Boston brides have a wealth of elegant options for their special day. Whether your style is soft and romantic, trend-setting modern or show-stopping elegance, Fairmont Copley Plaza is the premier choice.

What are the services you offer?

Our wedding specialists help brides-to-be transform their dreams into reality. Your wedding specialist services your wedding from the first moment you arrive at the hotel to the day of your wedding. From tasting meetings, planning meetings and recommended vendors to detailing an evening timeline and being there when you say “I do” we want to ensure your day is perfection. We also celebrate special occasions such as rehearsal dinners, post wedding brunches and bridal showers.

Love in White – Real Wedding

A breathtaking display of white floral grandeur and romance fills the ballroom at this iconic Boston hotel, the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

The warmth of golden light and romantic flowers invited guests into the grand ballroom. Elevated floral sculptures lined the aisle leading Marissa and Danny to their custom-made Chuppah. Mirrored posts with a floral façade supported a canopy of hanging orchids; a perfect setting to say “I do.” While the guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Marc Hall and his team switched up the atmosphere in the ballroom with violet lighting and even more breathtaking floral sculptures. “They used precise lighting throughout the ballroom to illuminate the floral arrangements, the ornate ceiling, and the white dance floor, just as I had envisioned it,” Marissa described. Each table held a tall crystal vase that was topped with a floral sphere of white roses, orchids, and hydrangeas. Pillar candles were scattered throughout adding a sense of intimacy to the room. The wedding was absolutely perfect and wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise of their event planner Alexis, of Unique Weddings By Alexis.

Vendor Spotlight is on: Unique Weddings by Alexis; Boston-based event firm led by the amazingly talented Alexis Eliopoulos O’Mara.

1. How did your business come to be?

I started out in graphic design and marketing before I got into corporate event planning. After several years of corporate event planning, I decided to take on weddings. I just loved the long term planning and relationship building with clients. To continue my focus on servicing and designing weddings, I started my own business.

2. What are the services you offer?

Full service wedding planning, wedding design, partial planning services, and month-of planning services.

3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?

I operate out of Boston, MA, but I service weddings all over New England as well as destination weddings. I have worked on weddings from Anguilla and Bermuda to Pennsylvania and Washington DC.

4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?

One year is ideal, however, we are sometimes booked as far out as 24 months and sometimes in as little as 5 days prior to the wedding date. We have been hired 4 and 5 weeks in advance of weddings with little to nothing booked other than the date and venue. We can make any time frame work!

5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?

I tell all couples to enjoy their wedding no matter what unexpected things arise. If they look like they are having a great time, all of their wedding guests will feed off their emotions and they will enjoy themselves as well, even if something terrible, unplanned or unwanted has happened.

Beautiful Traditions – Real Wedding

A classic Hindu wedding exudes culturally beautiful traditions at The Charles Hotel in Boston.

Supriya envisioned the day to be rich with culture; embodying all the traditions and customs of a Hindu wedding without being too over-the-top. The Charles Hotel was the best option for the couple as the ballroom is gorgeous and was able to accommodate all of their guests, most of which were from out of town. “The Charles Hotel had easy access to the JFK path where the Wedding Procession (Baraat) of the groom on a horse with friends and family arrived from. The path was secluded from traffic and gave an authentic and intimate feel to the ceremony and the festivities,” Supriya reminisced. To create a fun vibe for the Sangeet (a celebration the night before the wedding), musical instruments and vibrant umbrellas were places on every table. The wedding ceremony was filled with the color red, as it symbolizes love, commitment, strength, and bravery in the Hindu culture.
