Vendor Spotlight is on the ProvidenceG; boasting a modern all-white ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows, a rooftop terrace, and a pub equipped with game tables and comfort food, ProvidenceG is an epicenter of entertainment.
1. How did you business come to be?
Located in the heart of downtown Providence, The ProvidenceG is a new development of the city’s most iconic historic buildings, housing luxury apartment rentals, restaurants, and an event facility plus exceptional amenities and services. The Ballroom at ProvidenceG is one of the city’s newest luxury event spaces. Historically known as the lobby of Providence Gas Company, built in 1920, the ballroom boasts many of its original architectural details.
2. What are the services you offer?
Adorned with the original marble floors, crystal chandeliers, crisp white walls and intricate Greek key molding, our Ballroom’s simple yet elegant décor is an ideal setting for weddings, social gatherings, birthday soirees, or corporate events. Any color, texture, style, or preference is easily accommodated, allowing you the freedom to bring your own unique vision to life. One of my favorite aspects of our Ballroom is that, unlike many reception venues, we allow our clients to bring in a caterer of their choice, which gives them great flexibility in the type and style of cuisine they can offer their guests. A lot of places require a minimum spend, or make you choose from a list of pre-packaged menus. Here at the G we believe you should be able to tailor your wedding to your own tastes and budget, creating a completely customized event that is truly yours! You also have the ability to tie in our beautiful Rooftop at the ProvidenceG for a private ceremony or cocktail hour, and end the evening downstairs in our GPub for an after party complete with billiards, shuffle board, air hockey, or karaoke. We offer everything you could want for a perfect wedding celebration, all in one convenient location.
3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service ?
We are located in the heart of Downtown Providence at 100 Dorrance Street, perfectly situated with many hotels within walking distance
4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?
Many of our clients will book over a year in advance, which has always been the norm within the wedding industry, however we are starting to see a bit of a trend towards shorter engagements. It isn’t unheard of for couples to be looking to book a venue within six months or less, and there are some perks to this as well. Oftentimes reception venues will offer discounted rates if they have unsold dates within this shorter time frame, and many other wedding vendors may negotiate on their pricing if they aren’t booked yet. Also, when couples have less time to change their minds or scroll through Pinterest getting different ideas, they tend to be less prone to spend money on things they don’t need. So while it might not be for the faint of heart, if you are flexible on your date and aren’t set on certain vendors, then a short engagement could give you the ability to have your dream wedding at a fraction of the price!
5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?
The big day goes by so quickly, don’t forget to take a moment to step back and take it all in. Brides often spend so much time planning that it can be very easy to get lost in all of the little details and miss out on the bigger picture. This day is really about the two of you, joining as one, surrounded by the love and support of your closest family and friends. Choose a team of wedding vendors that you feel you can trust to execute your vision, so that you can relax and enjoy the party!
