Vendor Spotlight is on Paper & Pearl; a full-service stationery design firm specializing in beautiful luxury of all things paper.
1. How did your business come to be?
I launched Paper & Pearl in 2014 after a long career in sales and through my passion for beautiful paper and design. I always dreamed of owning a stationery store, but with a growing trend towards on-line shopping, I decided that an e-commerce business was the way to go.
2. What are the services you offer?
For my bridal clients, I offer a personal consultation to learn about all the lovely details of the wedding and how I could help turn their vision into the perfect wedding invitation suite. I also offer “Day Of” wedding items like programs, menus, escort cards, specialty drink signs — basically anything that needs to be on paper! I also carry a full line of beautiful stationery on the Paper & Pearl website by some of the best names in stationery.
3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?
I operate Paper & Pearl from my home studio in Bristol. Because of the nature of my business, consultations are best done in my home studio where my clients and I meet and go through the many samples and albums that I carry to come up with the perfect invitation suite. I have also worked with long-distance couples via Skype or emails.
4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?
To alleviate the stress, I recommend that consultation be booked 6 to 9 months in advance of the wedding. This will give us plenty of time to select the design elements and go through the proofing process for any edits. Some designers I work with have long lead times for printing, which needs to be considered.
5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?
My best advice to couples is that they should look at their invitation suite as a way of setting the tone for their wedding day. Invitations are the first glimpses guests will receive of the couples style and theme for the day and lets them know they are special people to the couple.
My best tip for couples when ordering invitations is to have the invitation envelopes pre-printed with the guest’s names and addresses! This is a wonderful, time saver and an inexpensive add-on.
