1. How did your business come to be?
Artisan Bake Shop opened its doors 12 years ago! We started as a more traditional bakery with breads and cupcakes and cookies, but over the years we began to focus on cakes, cupcakes and desserts for large events and wedding. We are a by-appointment bake shop, meaning that everything is available by pre-order and made especially for each and every client, we do not have a traditional storefront with a case where you can buy items.
2. What are the services you offer?
At Artisan Bake Shop we create cakes and cupcakes for weddings, and any event! We also offer dessert tables for our special occasions and weddings! We have lovely holiday menus, available by order, for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter Sweets as well!
3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?
Artisan Bake Shop is located on the South Coast of Massachusetts, between Cape Cod and Providence, in Rochester, Massachusetts. We will travel to the South Coast and Southern South Shore, and most of Cape Cod, also to towns in Rhode Island: Tiverton, Newport, Providence.
4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?
Before coming to see us for a wedding consultation and tasting, you’ll want to wait until you have large decor details planned: dress colors, linens, centerpiece color palette, and overall style chosen before coming in to see us. You’ll be surprised how many of these details play into your cake design! We prefer to see our clients at least 4-9 months prior to the event date, the longer the distance we have to travel, the further in advance you should plan to book with us.
5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?
The one piece of advice that I always give me my brides is to be prepared for your appointments and consultations! I always give me couples a list of questions to answer before coming in to see me, the couples who haven’t read through the questions or answered them ahead of time, are the ones who are confused by the process of cake design and tasting! I remember wedding planning and when I booked my vendors I always figured – oh I don’t need to read through this WHOLE PACKET – but I realize now that I really should have! And that I missed out on a lot of really valuable information by not doing so.
