Vendor Spotlight is on Forks & Fingers; based in Connecticut and known all over New England for their delicious and innovative catering service.
1. How did your business come to be?
When the recession hit, Mark and I decided to close his restaurant to focus on corporate catering as their needs were staying put. At the time, I worked in the corporate world, and knew the first thing I was going to giving up was my boozy lunches with friends and coworkers. We focused on corporate catering for our first three years and were very successful albeit uninspired. When a large corporate client overlooked us for a major event because they thought we didn’t cater more formal events, we took a leap and gave up the majority of our corporate contracts. Three years later, we’ve expanded our portfolio to all types of off premises catering, booking into the following year and very inspired.
2. What are the services you offer?
We offer off premises catering and bar services along with staffing. All custom built staging for those services is done in house to complement the client’s esthetic. We do offer some planning guidance for those clients who don’t have a planner.
3. Where are you located and how far will you travel to provide your service?
Our main location is in East Haven (New Haven) and our secondary location is in Greenwich, both of which are in Connecticut. We’re happy to travel anywhere, but our most popular area is Vermont to Manhattan and all the islands in between.
4. How far in advance do you recommend clients to book?
To ensure you obtain your preferred date, we recommend a year prior for your wedding and within 6 months for any other major events.
5. What is one piece of advice you always give to brides?
Guests don’t miss what they don’t know. If that super cool china you wanted isn’t available, no one will ever sit at your table of amazing food and say “wow, they skimped on the plates.” Guests are there for you, everything else is a bonus.
