Most brides walk down the aisle with a beautiful floral bouquet, but what if you were able to carry a bouquet that never dies? Danielle Aspinwall of DA Couture creates beautiful jeweled bouquets that are custom-made for every bride and can be passed down from generation to generation.
1. Tell us how your brand came to be.
I have always been creative, but didn’t think I could go anywhere with it so I put that thought on the back burner and just tried to focus on being successful in sales. I ended up losing my job due to an injury and knew I wouldn’t be able to get a job for a while so I needed to figure out a way to make money on my own and out of my home. My husband and I were newly engaged at the time and my mom asked if I wanted to put my grandmother’s brooch in my bouquet. I loved the idea, but being a bling girl I started thinking about a bouquet filled with them! I started searching online and ended up being so intrigued by them — I had to have one! My only problem was none of them spoke to me. I wanted something different than what I was finding and it had to be perfect for my wedding day. That’s when it hit me; I could do this! I wanted to elevate the quality and craftsmanship of it. It’s such a special day and jeweled bouquets can be passed on throughout the generations so I turned away from the crafty side of it. I focused on the quality of my product and I’m very picky on what type of brooches I use as well as the rest of the material. My goal is to make them come to life and have my brides feel unique and special. My bouquets are available for purchase through Klienfelds Manhattan and they are all over Season 14 on “Say Yes to The Dress.” We have been invited to be a part of NYFW and Couture NYFW, we have been in a bunch of print magazines, blogs, even some TV time. I officially became a part of Swarovski this year which is a great stepping stone for everyone to understand my level of commitment in making my products unique and of quality. With this I am also trying to brand our business on more of an international level as well as expand on offering more to my brides.
2. What type of accessories do you create?
We offer jewelry bouquets, wristlets, boutonnieres, headpieces, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and shoulder and body jewelry
3. Are they all handmade? What types of materials do you use?
Yes, they are all handmade metal and hand painted. I use enamel on my own flowers, Swarovski Crystals or Australian crystals, and mother of pearl or other things I find to fit in and make the pieces more unique.
4. Is it custom order only or do you have collections as well?
I accept custom orders and I have a collection as well. The best seller still to date is the “Aubrey.”
5. What is down the pipeline for your business?
I want to grow as a designer and continue to keep challenging myself, working with other products and offering more too.
