Organic Romance

Crisp white décor paired with organic lush greenery creates a fun, yet refined ambiance for Meredith and Ryan’s wedding.

“During our first design meetings together Meredith, Ryan and I agreed that we would create a look and a feel that was clean, fresh, and fun with a dash of fuss,” Michele of Michele Mottola Events Consulting explained. They decided on a color palette of white, green, and black with a touch of gold. Michele teamed up with Marc Hall of Marc Hall Design to create a modern floral décor comprised of large majestic palms, calla lilies, gypsophillia, peonies, and jasmine vines. Majestic palms in tall silver urns anchored the grass aisle leading up to the alter, bringing life to the clean, all-white ceremony space. Modern floral sculptures were juxtaposed with contemporary-deco linens on every table creating a sense of romance with an organic edge. The ambience created by the event décor made it a fun, yet fabulous evening for all and truly mimicked the witty personalities of the couple.

Trust the Process, You’ll Enjoy the Journey — True words of wisdom spoken by the talented Event Designer, Michele Mottola of Michele Mottola Events Consulting.

1. Give us the history of your business.

I took the leap to and started Michele Mottola Events in 2001, right after the birth of my daughter. My sense of organization and detail had really heightened post pregnancy and I was going to capitalize on it. It was scary start and it was slow, but it was worth it.  Standing strong fifteen years later, I have developed my business exactly the way I always dreamed of. As a high-end event management service company that works on all types of events, big and small with an intimate and personalized approach to event planning.  I take on one event a month so that I am able to handle every aspect of the wedding personally. This is the perfect career for my personality. I have worked in the hospitality field my entire life, I have always gravitated to it. I never fought what I loved to do and thus, I loved working in events.  I took my natural abilities and made them work for me.

I respect the natural process of how things work, and figuring out to make them work even better, is exciting for me.  Being detailed and organized, able to anticipate needs in general and being methodical are skills that have helped my business grow.   I love collaborating with brilliant vendors and my clients.  Also having a basic understanding in psychology, mixed with an eye for aesthetics, a love for food and its presentation, a good sense of humor and a very healthy energy level, well then I knew with all of that Michele Mottola Events would do just fine.

2. How far do you travel to provide your services?

My services are varied which allow me to work for clients from anywhere to anywhere. However, producing events in the New England Area is something I love to do.

3. Do you have a team or do you work solo?

Both. All of the work prior to the event with the client is handled through me directly, this time phase is extremely helpful with the client building trust.  When it comes to fabrication and day of, well then it takes a village and I work with a great village.  During that time I am still the main contact with the client which never changes as I bring vendors in. My clients love knowing that I am there from beginning to end, I am very involved and hands on.   My mission when I started my own business was to keep the focus of my work doing what I love and I love being in the mix. I have to admit, initially thoughts of a big office, lots of employees, and clients every weekend was exciting to me.  But having all that was not what would make me happy because I know that I can’t be everywhere at the same time. The sense of camaraderie and gratification that transpires during these events is so incredible, I wouldn’t want it to be diluted.

4. What are some of the latest requests from brides?

An Unplugged Ceremony- no pictures during this time so that guests can be in the moment with the couple and so that the photographer can capture the intimate moment between the couple without having to maneuver angles to avoid all the iPhone screens in the shot.

At the same time, Drones are requested to capture pictures of the landscape, bridal party or event from a Birdseye view.

Bringing the outdoors in, literally. One client loved the idea of an outdoor wedding but wanted the comforts and security of an indoor venue. Relatively speaking the most economical and ecological solution is to “carpet” the ballroom with Live rolls of grass sod.

A truly all white wedding with a punch of red. All guests, including gentleman will be asked to wear white and the bride will be in Red.

5. What is one piece of advice you give to anyone planning an event with you?

Trust the process, you will enjoy the journey.

Coastal Crush

The Nonantum Resort in Maine was the perfect setting for Jeff & Paula’s coastal wedding.

The couple had a vision of a simply elegant wedding with nautical touches which were brought to life on that warm June day. Their love for being by the water made the Nonantum Resort an effortlessly perfect choice to say I do. “The Nonantum Resort is a beautiful venue right on the water which was exactly what we envisioned for our day. Our ceremony was outside and Jeff and the groomsmen entered the ceremony from a sailboat. The gorgeous coastal scene was perfect for our ceremony and cocktail hour,” Paula raved. The arbor that they were married underneath was handmade out of birch trees by Jeff and a friend, a very special and personal touch. The arbor was decorated with colorful blooms of pinks, corals, and creams, which also matched the bouquets for the bridal party. Nautical ropes served at napkin ties and bordered each cocktail table as a nod to their love for the sea.

Vibrant Coral & Rich Greens

Blooming with vibrant coral and rich green hues, this sophisticated wedding at Boston Harbor Hotel had each guest in awe.

Serena and Phil didn’t have a particular color palette in mind at the start of their wedding planning adventure. They put their trust in event designer, Edna Dratch-Parker, of EFD Creative and the result was nothing short of spectacular. “I chose a color theory that reflected the vibrant sophistication of the couple,” said Edna. “Edna guided us along the way through all the details such as flowers and linens. She was able to make our choosing efficient by pre-selecting fabrics and colors that she thought we would like. Seeing the elegant design helped to solidify what we wanted our event to look and feel like,” said Serena. Guests were greeted by large glass pillars holding deep greenery and coral flowers, designed by Orly Khon Floral. In the ballroom, champagne linens and Chiavari chairs made the centerpieces of green and coral flowers pop. Each table number featured a hand-drawing of the beautiful arch at Boston Harbor Hotel.
