Photography Spotlight – M.Studios

Photography Spotlight is on M.Studios this week — Learn more about this talented duo as well as their best advice!

1. How did M.Studios come to be?

Marisa and I have been friends for almost 20 years.  One thing that we’ve always had in common is a love of photography.  We were both doing photography professionally but separately.  I was working for Snap! Photography as a lead photographer.  Marisa was shooting portraits and doing freelance work for companies like Alex and Ani.  We started hiring each other to assist on jobs we had when we finally had that “aha” moment!  We saw the opportunity of not only doing what we love but being able to do it with your best friend.  Could it get anymore perfect than that?!  So, in 2011 M.Studios was born and it has been the greatest thing for both of us.

2. What types of photography services do you offer?

While we mostly focus on weddings we also do portraits, head shots, and event photography.  We also have a super swanky photo booth that is always the life of the party!

3. What is the best advice you can give to anyone being photographed?

Trust your photographer!  You hired them because you saw something in their work that spoke to you.  If you trust in their vision it allows your photographer to work their magic.  Also don’t be afraid to ham it up!  Laugh a little too much, flip your hair, be overly romantic, and just have fun with it!

4. How far are you willing to travel?

We will travel anywhere and everywhere!  We have shot weddings in New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Maine, New Hampshire as well as many other places in New England.  We even traveled to Philadelphia for an engagement session.  This year we are going to the Adirondacks in upstate New York and we can’t wait!  We love to travel so destination weddings are our favorite!

White and Navy

White and navy creates a clean and masculine look while keeping the formality of the event.

The final installment of our photo shoot at Glen Manor showcases the fabulous fashion styled by Beth Chapman of The White Dress By The Shore. She styled the bridesmaids in all white Grecian inspired gowns creating a clean palette and drawing attention to the crisp navy suits worn by the grooms. To complete their look, the bridesmaids carried small bouquets heavy with greenery and the flower girls donned floral crowns. Each dress varied in style such as one-shoulder, high necklines, a jeweled collar, even lace separates!

Savory Dishes

Blackstone Caterers prepared an array of savory dishes for our photo shoot at Glen Manor that is certain to make your mouth water! And cake… who can forget the part of the meal that everyone saves room for? Something Different Cake Couture designed the perfect cake incorporating the chinoiserie pattern that was found on the chinaware, bar chandelier, and invitation suite. The mahogany bar was stocked with masculine libations such as whiskey and gin; each with with their own custom cocktail. Our favorite was the Just Married Julep!

Masculine Sophistication

Glen Manor with its ornate architectural details served as the perfect backdrop for this wedding that can be best described as masculine sophistication.

With two grooms, it can be a challenge to balance the decor while still making it feel like a special occasion. Candice Coppola of Jubilee Events conquered this, making every detail stand out. “We started with chinoiserie pattern, which reminds me so much of New England, and paired it with fun textures like boxwood leather and Lucite,” Candice described. “Those additional textures gave the photo shoot a masculine edge.” The theme was tied into every detail from the expertly stocked mahogany bar cart from Be Our Guest, to the chinouserie chandelier over the outdoor bar designed by Ryan Designs. A beautiful bed of boxwood showcased the guest escort cards designed by Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design, complementing the invitation suite perfectly. White ceramic vessels topped with topiaries and creamy white floral arrangements designed by Just For You Floral Design Studio created an intimate vibe for the dinner table. Small succulents in copper vessels at each place setting added to the overall tablescape while providing the guests with a keepsake.

Stay tuned for Wednesday’s installment featuring the culinary creations from this beautiful photo shoot!
