Patriotic hues serve as a nod to the groom’s dedicated service in the U.S Army for this wedding at Linden Place.
In combination with their wedding taking place on Flag Day and William’s service in the United States Army, Victoria chose an understated patriotic color palette of slate and navy blue, along with pops of light red. “We were drawn to the vintage elegance ambiance that radiates from Linden Place,” Victoria explained. She also fell in love with the whimsical rose gardens that Linden Place is known for. They were in full bloom on the day of their wedding, further enhancing her color story. Greenlion Weddings, Floral & Event Design designed a lush bouquet of red and white blooms for the bride, while the bridesmaids carried earthier bouquets of greenery with pops of white flowers. Blackstone Caterers served fizzy drinks and a delicious menu of items that also mimicked the colors of the day. Guests enjoyed snapping photos in the VW photo booth bus while also creating a fun play-on-words for the newlyweds as VW are their initials!

A mansion like no other, Linden Place has a breathtaking interior that can be transformed into anything you dreamed of for your big day. We interviewed Special Events Services Coordinator, Susan Battle to discover more about this beautifully unique property.
Linden Place Mansion, located in the center of historic Bristol, Rhode Island, was built in 1810 by the seafaring General George DeWolf and remained within the same family for seven generations before becoming a historical house museum.
Built in the Robert Adam inspired Federal style, popular in the early decades of our new American nation, Linden Place magnificently reflected the prosperity of the DeWolf merchant princes and the exquisite Adamesque Federal taste inspired by the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. Guests see one of the best examples of Federal architecture in New England, from the magnificent Palladian windows to the fluted Corinthian columns, which gracefully flank the front entrance to the mansion. Also of architectural significance are the later added Gothic conservatory and four-story spiral staircase.
2. Do you offer in-house catering and/or event planning services?
Linden Place has a full catering kitchen, complete with refrigeration, ovens, ranges and a sizeable work space for caterers. While Linden Place does not have an in-house caterer, we do have a list of required caterers who are very experienced in working at our historic site. These full-service caterers allow our clients to design and customize every part of their event, from menus and bar packages to décor, all within a desired price range. These caterers also provide superb coordination services and work closely with Linden Place staff to oversee every little detail and timing of an event. Those who reserve Linden Place for their event work directly with myself. I coordinate all vendors to ensure a smooth-running and hassle-free event for all.
3. Do you have a preferred or required vendor list that you provide to clients?
We provide all of our clients with an extensive preferred vendor list, from florists to photographers to Bands and DJ’s to a list of local lodgings. However, our clients are welcome to choose vendors who are not on our list. It is only with catering do we require that clients choose from our broad list.
4. Is the mansion available to rent year-round?
Yes, Linden Place hosts weddings and events throughout the year! While warm weather events enjoy the setting of our sculpture and rose gardens, winter weddings are treated to an intimate, elegant indoor setting including the ballroom’s large working fireplace. Additionally, the mansion is gorgeously and tastefully decorated for the holiday season making Linden Place the ideal setting for a holiday event or a New Year’s Eve celebration!
5. Which areas are available to rent?
Rental of Linden Place includes the use of four areas: the historic 1810 mansion, carriage house ballroom, adjacent tented courtyard and east rose garden for your ceremony & reception. The Ivy and Aster Spring 2017 collection romances bohemian-style bridal gowns. “Our focus was to revisit our past, and reflect on the vintage romantic quality our brand is known for, celebrate the moments when a bride feels the overwhelming emotion of love whether it is when she is shopping for her gown, when she incorporates a family heirloom into her wedding day, or the feeling she gets when she starts down the aisle. We really wanted each dress to have a reminiscent quality while still feeling current with today’s trends and styles. By focusing on the details including embroidery, a craft practiced for centuries and handed down from generation to generation, our collection feels like a bit of an heirloom, but still relevant to today’s bride,” exclaimed designer Jessica Brown.

Sapphire and pale rose popped against the rustic wood of the barn at this farm wedding.
Drawn to the color of her alma mater, Dana knew she wanted blue to be the focal color of her wedding and was the first thing she mentioned to her event planner, Lindsay Mastroianno of Sixpence For Your Shoe. Lindsay called upon the talents of Nicole Michel of Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design to set the tone of the day by creating a custom-made floral print. This print was an integral part of the event design from the paper story to bridal fashion and was also Dana’s favorite detail. Each bridesmaid alternated between a solid navy gown and a sapphire floral printed gown. The barn came to life with white flowers and twinkly lights strung throughout. “Shindig Lighting strung lights in a way that created a magical atmosphere; it felt like you were floating along the dance floor! The sconces he added perfectly highlighted the colors of the floral centerpieces at the tables and the floral accents we placed around the venue,” Dana raved.
