Classic Opulence

An intimate summer wedding exudes classic opulence at Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod.

It was a mist-filled day at Chatham Bars Inn for this summer wedding, yet the grey skies complimented the color palette while adding a sense of coziness. Having dined at the Inn several times and being impressed with the impeccable service, food, and view, she knew it would be the perfect venue.  The bride herself is an interior designer so being familiar with color and texture made it easy for her to communicate her vision to Tasha Bracken of SD Events. “As this was a summer wedding by the sea, I thought the shades of blues, whites, and greens would work perfectly. I loved being able to take advantage of local summer flowers such as blue and green hydrangea, and delphinium and was grateful to a local floral designer, Lilacs Florals,” says the bride. The colors popped against the all-white linens and grey tufted chairs from New England Country Rentals.

Gold & Soft Sage

Awe-inspiring vaulted ceilings accented by hand-painted gold filigree stenciling  and a gold mosaic tiled wall posed as the muse for this styled shoot. Juxtaposed with soft greenery and white blooms arranged by Farrissey Floral Design, the perfect balance of sophistication and femininity were achieved and enhanced the natural beauty of the dining room. Delicate lace linens complimented the luster of gold vases and mercury glass votive candle vessels. Known for their culinary excellence, Chapel Grill prepares a menu that caters to each of the seasons. The pistachio encrusted rack of lamb and raw oysters are among the fan favorites. Petite sweets such as chocolate cake pops, seasonal tartlets, and mini cheesecakes are their specialties for the ever popular dessert bars. Chapel Grill offers a variety of rooms each with their own historic features mixed with modern design elements setting the mood for your event.

4 Ways To Get the Most From Your Hair and Makeup Trial

classic_0008

Wedding prep almost always includes scheduling a hair and makeup trial. (You don’t want to wing it on your big day, do you?) Here are 4 ways to make sure you get exactly the look you’re going for when you say “I do.”

Browse Pinterest. The best way to communicate the look you’d like on your wedding to your hair stylist and makeup artist is to bring inspiration. Find a bride with the updo or tousled curls you’d like and save it to your phone (or tear sheet it from a magazine). This will give the people helping you go glam a starting point. You can modify your look from there.

Ask questions. Find out exactly what you should plan to do if you need to touchup your makeup post-ceremony (hello, there will probably be tears!). For example, she may tell you to carry loose powder–or purchase the lip color she used to create your look. You’ll want to write those products down so you’re totally prepared come the big day.

Replicate your wedding day look. If you can, try to wear a white tee-shirt or button-down to the trial that mirrors the neckline of your wedding gown. This will help you get a sense of the full picture–even if you’re not wearing your dress.

Take tons of pics. You want to capture every angle possible–not just so that you can show your friends, but so your hair stylist and makeup artist can recreate the exact same look on your wedding day.
