Last weekend bridal designers from around the world gathered in New York to showcase their latest designs at bridal market. We caught up with Beth Chapman of The White Dress By The Shore to discuss all the bridal market trends this season has to offer! Stay tuned: Next Friday we are unveiling the entire Spring bridal gown collection by Anne Barge!
1. What were the most prominent trends that graced the runway during this bridal market?
The plunging front neckline continues. We saw this trend incorporated into everything from ball gowns to fitted silhouettes. Sleeves are also in! Long sleeves graced virtually every runway. Spring and Summer brides can still embrace this trend, as long as they take the weight of the fabrication into consideration. This Anne Barge gown is a perfect example!
Conversely, this season, there were also quite a few high neck, long sleeved gowns. This is perfect for a very classic or more demure bride; especially one who is getting married in the Fall or Winter months.
There is a move away from lace toward more textural fabrications, like appliqués and jacquard fabrics like this Mira Zwillinger!
Many designers also showed very clean gowns in silk crepe and faille, with no fabric interest at all, which is very refreshing! Something blue! The new hot color of the season is blue. Several designers showed gowns in beautiful shades of light blue.
2. Which trend was your favorite?
I love the idea of a bride wearing a long sleeve high lace jacket over a strapless gown for the ceremony and then taking it off for the reception.
3. Are there any new designers you plan to carry in your boutique this year?
Yes! We are thrilled to announce that we will be carrying Theia bridesmaid gowns. All the dresses are fashion-forward and under $250!
