4 Ways To Get the Most From Your Hair and Makeup Trial

Wedding prep almost always includes scheduling a hair and makeup trial. (You don’t want to wing it on your big day, do you?) Here are 4 ways to make sure you get exactly the look you’re going for when you say “I do.”

Browse Pinterest. The best way to communicate the look you’d like on your wedding to your hair stylist and makeup artist is to bring inspiration. Find a bride with the updo or tousled curls you’d like and save it to your phone (or tear sheet it from a magazine). This will give the people helping you go glam a starting point. You can modify your look from there.

Ask questions. Find out exactly what you should plan to do if you need to touchup your makeup post-ceremony (hello, there will probably be tears!). For example, she may tell you to carry loose powder–or purchase the lip color she used to create your look. You’ll want to write those products down so you’re totally prepared come the big day.

Replicate your wedding day look. If you can, try to wear a white tee-shirt or button-down to the trial that mirrors the neckline of your wedding gown. This will help you get a sense of the full picture–even if you’re not wearing your dress.

Take tons of pics. You want to capture every angle possible–not just so that you can show your friends, but so your hair stylist and makeup artist can recreate the exact same look on your wedding day.
