Peterson Party Center’s Table Design Series XV

Just when our day is looking a little grey, Peterson Party Center sends over the most inspiring table design from their Vendor Table Design Series to spice things up.  John LaRoche of blueGuava designed the bright teal and graphic tablescape using succulents and roses along with Peterson's rental items to create an environment we'd love to see anywhere from a swanky soiree to a sweet sixteen.  Enjoy!

Connecticut Networking Party

We wanted to say a big Bliss "thank you" to all those who came out to Hotel Zero Degrees Norwalk last night to toast to an amazing event season and the start of autumn here in New England!  We had so much fun seeing old friends and meeting new ones!  Hotel Zero Degrees was such a fantastic spot for a party, we loved mingling amongst the swanky and stylish furnishings, and special thanks to Azalea Floral Design for the beautiful pieces created for the event, they added the perfect pop of color.  Cheers!

AFR Tour part II

And if you were inspired by our designs HERE, you've got to see some of the other creative designs our industry friends prepared for the AFR Tour event at Lombardos.

The ever-creative John Orton designed an orange and green color palette full of whimsy and artistic touches.  From AFR's astro turf benches to brilliant orange soft seating, John made sure every nook of his space had his special touch, including antique toys, a mischevious mannequin, and beautiful florals.

Destinaton Parters brought us to Asia with brilliant reds and silks, a Pagoda was installed and housed Lombardo's Asian food station.  Guest mingled amongst dragons and Buddha's, bamboo, and hanging paper lanterns.

Exquisite Events created a beautiful vignette with vintage style, from their wallpaper walls holding galleries of picture frames, to pretty bistro lighting hanging from weathered shingled pillars, all encircled in sheer white draping.

Future Affairs brought us straight to winter with crisp white banquettes, glimmering silver and tons of snow.

Rentals Unlimited designed many more of the vignette areas.  The Rentals Cafe at the entry way held quirky and bright green and white awning stripe linens.  Their ode to Mad Men was a slick lounge with retro design.  Then they sailed from Manhattan to India and designed a brilliant and luxurious purple installation.  From there a swanky "Fifty Shades" lounge was styled in black leather and deep rose reds.  Rentals Unlimited also showcased bold white lounges, brown leather soft seating, and their fantastic Glitz linens at the showcase.

Don't forget to peek HERE at how our stylist Claudia brought the Bliss touch to the event, with two seperate desgins we can't get enough of.

AFR Tour at Lombardos

We were excited to attend the 2013 AFR Showcase and Networking event that took place Wednesday night at the fantastic Lombardo's. The tour is known as Design and Inspire, where event specialists around the country get together to showcase their businesses with fabulous and unique stylings, network with industry friends, and meet suppliers.  We just had to do two seperate posts on all the great style so here we go with part 1.

This year, our stylist Claudia Seyffert, styled two seperate tables at the showcase, including the entryway showstopper.  Here are some of her thoughts behind the design of both tables, one a high end harvest look to inspire your upcoming holiday tables, and the other Luxe Lodge which could be interpreted for anything from weddings (we could so picture this at so many of our favorite cozy barns or modern backdrops) to winter holiday tables, to your own home decor.

From Claudia:

Bliss Tip: Creating a High End Harvest Look
When planning an autumn event let nature be your inspiration. With the onset of the fall season comes an abundance of amazing organic elements layered with rich, interesting textures and beautiful, subtle colors. Create a pattern of high and low points down the center of your table with rustic wooden boxes or old woven baskets then begin filling in the empty spaces with squashes ( I used Butternut , Hubbard  and Baby Boo )  large sunflowers heads (dried pods or potted plants work well too), Artichokes and simple greens ( baby kale , broad leaves  or seasonal berries are also great). Then tuck in as many candles as you can, in a variety of sizes, to achieve that soft, warm autumn glow that seems to  invite guests to linger a little longer.

Inspired By: AFR's Vermont  Dining Table ( a sleeker farm style table that blurs the lines between rustic and refined) paired with AFR's Elio Chair (their vintage chic style looks right at home in a rural country field or a cool industrial loft).

Gold Glass Charger, "Cotillion" Dinner Plate,  Smokey Quartz round edged glass plate, "Kya" Stainless Steel Flatware, Amber Tinted Trumpet Glass, Thin Gold Rim Wine glasses,"Claudia" Runner and Camel Iridescent napkins all from Rentals Unlimited.

Design Challenge: Luxe Lodge

The challenge was to create a winter look that incorporated a variety of AFR pieces that you wouldn't necessarily envision together to illustrate the design versatility and flexibility of the  AFR collections . Inspired by the Chateau Collection Elan Chairs (with their stark white wooden frames and lush brown velvet upholstery) and AFR's  beautiful animal hide rugs I set out to create a Luxurious Lodge look with hints of holiday glamour blended with rustic details. A textural mix of evergreen, antlers and animal skin played to the rustic lodge side while metallic ornaments ,silver and glass candle holders and a stunning crystal chandelier from Gateway Productions added the luxury. AFR's Essentials Turning Bed ( a fabulous double sided white leather bench) was the perfect piece to connect the dining table with the lounge area to easily create an intimate multifunctional event space. AFR's Sophistication Sofa (layered with another  animal skin rug for balance)  and Whisper Bench Ottoman, both in white leather, helped define the space for the the lounge area and created a cozy  spot for guests to relax after dinner. AFR's Zinc Pub Table paired with white and chrome Criss Cross Bar Stools, also in white leather, added the stark, yet stylish winter feel to the adjoining cocktail area.

Other AFR PiecesChateau Collection Marteen Chair, Mon End Table in White, Round Brown Velvet Pillows and Brown Sateen Pillows.

From Rentals UnlimitedLane Stripe Linen in Lavender and Lane Pillows, Silver Band Glass Charger, Majestic God Dinner Plate, Hammered Glass Plate in Grape, Eton Flatware, White Glass Goblet, Thin Silver Rim Water Goblet, Grandeur Champagne Flute with wide silver rim,  Faux Silk Napkin in white and Satin Napkin in Mink.

We also wanted to show you how uplighting can add drama and impact to a design, so after we got some great detail shots we had Lombardo's go ahead and turn on the icy purple uplighting to give a dramatic and cool look to the design.
