A Very Red Christmas

This cheerful Christmas party all bedecked in shades of red really caught our eye!  Take a peek!

From Boutique Design:  "Early last December, we decided that our friends were in need of a little extra cheer and perhaps, a good party!  To help them get into the proper holiday spirit, we took matters into our own hands and threw a good old-fashioned holiday soiree.  Live carolers met guests at the door after boys with lanterns escorted them from their cars.  Inside, we layered patterns of dots, stripes and chevron to keep the party whimsical and fresh. The palette consisted of traditional holiday reds off set by a beautiful, cheerful aqua.  The sequined aqua linens caught the candle and firelight perfectly casting a warm glow throughout the evening.   The flowers were purposely kept simple in monochromatic reds incorporating amaryllis, tulips, winterberries and Darcy garden roses.  The bartenders were kept hopping mixing up drinks such as the Rudolf, the Clarice and the Abominable Snow monster with a late night passed, candy cane cup of peppermint libation we called the Yukon Cornelius!  A highlight of the night was a gift from a friend, a huge gingerbread replica of our home complete with fondant golden retrievers.  Friends danced the night away in a theater room turned "disco" while Jimmy Stewart and little Zuzu made for fitting backdrop.   After indulging in the hot cocoa bar, friends left with bags of homemade caramel, toffee pretzels.  In the end, the night was exactly what we had hoped for, a lively and fun way for all those whom we love to kick back, relax, laugh, dance and get ready for the Holiday season to officially begin."

Mount Hope Farm Wedding from Olivia Gird Photography

We swoon over every.single.wedding at Mt. Hope Farm.  It's acres upon acres of picturesque backdrops from fields to fieldstone and from wooden fences to the Mt. Hope Bridge just get us every time.  So needless to say when Olivia Gird sent us this fun event featuring some of our favorite vendors like Ryan Designs and Customized Flowers by Esther Scott we just had to showcase her beautiful imagery!  Especially with such a fun color palette like teal and tangerine!  Enjoy!

From the bride: "My number one goal throughout the wedding planning process was not to sweat the small stuff. I didn't want to become so bogged down with the details that I forgot to enjoy my engagement or was in a panic that everything would come together on the big day. And looking back on those 19 months, I can honestly say that it was quite an enjoyable ride because of that. My fiancé and I really just wanted to throw a fun, festive party that reflected our laid-back personalities. For us, the big stuff came easily. A fall wedding held major appeal both from a sentimental and economic standpoint: We met and began dating in the fall and autumn weddings tend to be significantly less expensive than those held in warmer months. We also immediately knew that our wedding would take place in our hometown, with the ceremony taking place at my childhood church. For those reasons, the barn at Mt. Hope Farm in Bristol was the ideal location for our reception. Food was super important to us, so we splurged a little on that, working with our caterer on a custom menu for our cocktail reception, while we saved in other areas with invitations purchased online, and decorations from Ikea and the Christmas Tree Shop. The process wasn't without its hurdles. It was difficult for our very traditional families to accept that we wouldn’t be following protocol with a sit-down dinner and we had to combat a barrage of opinions and concerns. They ranged from the very valid (Will the older guests have a place to sit?) to the down-right rude (That’s odd. Why would you want to do something like that?) But eventually we were able to win everyone over. Now, almost six months later, I still smile every time I think about that day. It was absolutely perfect, and I know I'll look back on it, even 20 years from now, and feel the exact same way."
