With the 4th of July this Wednesday (this summer is flying by already!) and keeping with historical themes, we thought we would share some more fun details from our Boston Beckons shoot from page 174. This shoot was designed with a welcome party in mind, getting out-of-town guests involved in the history and lore of the local landscape. We couldn't help but use clever nods to days past like our "one if by land" and "two if by sea" hors d'oeuvres from Post 390 as well as "Leave Us Your John Hancock" as a note for party goers to sign the guest book. Each guest was given an antique skeleton "key to the city" and a gift wrapped in replicas of vintage Boston maps. A hand drawn map from Sharon Morgera of all the weeks activities was also included in the welcome bags by Flippin' Out , along with other little Bostonian gear like Baked Beans and tea. Vintage glassware from a local thrift store with Boston scenes like Paul Revere's Ride were a great score, and we served the "Rose Kennedy" cocktail in them (a refreshing and summery mix of vodka, cranberry juice, a splash of club soda, and a lime), and paired with cold Sam Adams for the gents. Have fun with your city's history when welcoming guests into town whether it's for a wedding weekend, a family reunion, or even an anniversary or birthday party! We sure did.
