08.05.11 ~ Farm Fresh Rhode Island Food Fest

On Tuesday we joined local farmers, fisherman, and food artisans at Castle Hill Inn for Farm Fresh Rhode Island‘s Food Fest, their annual benefit. It was an eye catching display of all the colors of summer. From tomatoes in every shade, to displays of berries and green beans, local farms displayed their lovely produce. The farm-to-table concept was in full effect, with veggies literally picked that morning being prepared into dishes for those celebrating at the event. Local restaurants like Tallulah on Thames prepared their signature dishes, and the Newport Restaurant Group was also represented alongside Castle Hill Inn‘s chefs. Fresh, fun, and full of color, we enjoyed chatting with the vendors about how important it is to buy local, and not to mention how much tastier! If you missed the event, not to worry, many of the participants also partake in the area’s farmer’s markets, all of which can be located from Farm Fresh Rhode Island‘s website at Farm www.farmfreshri.org.
