5.27.11 ~ Bliss Celebrates Cape Cod!

Bliss Publications celebrated Cape Cod’s top event professionals at a gathering held in their honor at beautiful Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA earlier this week. Cape Account Executive Allison Liset (our very own resident party planner) worked with Karen Taddei from Lilacs and Dyane Silins from Be Our Guest to create an elegant evening highlighting the glamour and grandeur of Highfield Hall. Guests were greeted by vintage urns filled with gorgeous hydrangea, peonies and sweet peas as they enjoyed one of three fun Bliss cocktails and sampled the delicious offerings by Olive Chase and her wonderful staff at The Casual Gourmet. Piano music provided by Full Spectrum Music floated through the hall as old and new friends of Bliss Celebrations Guide reconnected for the beginning of another busy event season. Cake Truffles from Lisa Raffael at Delicious Desserts provided the ideal sweet ending as party goers spilled onto the candlelit deck to enjoy a perfectly cool Cape Cod night. Our thanks to all who attended and to those who shared their time and talents to create one bliss~filled event!

05.16.11 ~ Farm Style Fabulous!

Recently featured in the spring issue of Edible Rhody – weddings at Sweetberry farm are a true celebration of love. Love of nature and the farm’s abundant bounty and love of community and its passions and practices that bring people together.
Like an ideal marriage, the farm supports and sustains. Fresh fruits from the orchards, flowers from the garden and vegetables from the fields provide resident
event planner Francesca Campo and Owners Jan and Michelle Eckhart , seasonal inspiration to create weddings and events that are unique, warm and personal.

When Sweetberry Farm began offering on- site weddings last season, Nicole and Keith knew upon first visit that it was the ideal location for their wedding, reflecting their shared love of nature and their commitment to self-reliance and community. Russell Morin Fine Catering helped the couple create an authentically Rhode Island menu featuring local favorites from sustainable foods. Wine from a local vineyard was served along with a pie buffet featuring selections from Corey’s Kitchen at Sweetberry Farm. Farm grown flowers expertly arranged by Linda Pierce and Michelle Eckhart of Sweetberry coupled with Campo’s eye for details (including the addition of the farms tractors to flank the ceremony) perfectly captured the charm of the farm.

Enjoy a sampling of great images from Nicole and Keith’s beautiful day by Scott and Devon from Oggi Photo and read more about the details of their farm style wedding at www.ediblecommunities.com/rhody/

In Bloom

05.4.11~ Hooray it’s May!

May is a time when we truly celebrate everything that those pesky April showers make possible, notably the arrival of the fabulous, yet fleeting Lily of the Valley. The official May flower, they are the precursor to what seems like an instantaneous reawakening of all things botanical that immediately follows their arrival . Delicate and dainty looking, these little pips are actually pretty tenacious perennials, a well known fact if you have ever enjoyed them in your garden and experienced their unruly nature first hand.

These sweet little flowers represent the return of happiness, purity of heart, humility, trustworthiness and love’s good fortune so it is no wonder that they are a coveted spring wedding flower and the bloom of choice for a most royal of weddings as the star of Princess Catherine’s charming bouquet. But like all good things they come to an end quickly, departing almost as fast as they arrive, so today we celebrate these lovely little woodland bells as they ring out a May Day reminder that happiness has returned and so too will summer!
